Facebook Page Timeline Cover Image Guidelines – What NOT to Do
Facebook Page Timelines will include the opportunity to include a massive cover image (850px by 315px). This is great for branding, but be careful not to violate Facebook’s guidelines for cover images.
Facebook says that cover images cannot contain:
- Price or purchase information, such as “40% off” or “Download it at our website”.
- Contact information, such as web address, email, mailing address or other information intended for your Page’s About section.
- References to user interface elements, such as Like or Share, or any other Facebook site features
- Calls to action, such as “Get it now” or “Tell your friends”.
People don’t like a hard sell on anything, even supporting your cause. The best use for the cover image is to have it be about the cause, and not to promote your organization.
