The Nonprofit Facebook Guy

is helping non-profits navigate the insanity of Facebook

What does “Active Users” mean in Facebook Page Insights?

An “active user” is someone who views or interacts with your Facebook Page.

Seven types of Facebook Page interactions

  1. A non-fan will view your Page or a story from your Page
  2. A fan will view your Page or a story from your Page
  3. A fan will “likes” a story form your Page (in news feeds and on your wall)
  4. A fan will comment on a story form your Page (in news feeds and on your wall)
  5. A fan will publish a comment on your Page wall
  6. A fan will upload a video to your wall
  7. A fan will upload photos to your wall

How your wall settings affects Active Users

Increasing the number of active users on your Page increases the appearance of your Page’s content in news feeds.

One of the quickest ways to increase active users is to make sure you’ve set up your Facebook Page wall so that users can post comments, videos and photos (5, 6, 7 above).

The other way to increase active users, is to encourage more comments on your Page.
